I recently found some cute summer clothing on clearance at Walmart. Although they had lots of colors to choose from, all of the tshirts and capris were plain. But for $3 each I decided it was worth the effort to 'fancy' them up a bit!
Here are the materials I used:
plain tshirt
plain capris
a few scraps of coordinating fabric
and matching thread
First I added a ruffled neckline to my tshirt, I took a long strip of fabric about twice the length of the front neckline. Right sides together I sewed the fabric to the tshirt, folding pleats every inch and a half(or so). I folded them all in the same direction as this seemed easiest!
Next I made a fabric rosette, and a circular fabric flower..(I will do a tutorial for these tomorrow)
I hand stitched the rosette into the middle of the flower, and stitched them onto the breast of the shirt.
Next I took two strips of fabric, the same width as the collar of the shirt, and I sewed and pleated as I did with the tshirt around the bottom hem of the pants.
And voila :)
Light Hoodie for the little guys:

This pattern uses a new long sleeve shirt and adds some pieces to create a custom hoodie, I am starting on mine and using a slightly stained tshirt of my sons, so I am not buying any material except the zipper!

I will post the picture of my creation when I finish!!
How-To Sew a Dress for your little Princess:
I have been wanting to make my little girl one of these dresses for some time now. I am not sewing literate by any means but this looks simple enough for even me to do :)
